Alvin Kamara did not participate in the final day of Saints minicamp practice Thursday.
The reason?
It’s all about Benjamins.
Kamara skipped the practice despite being present for the walk-through, but departed over what his agent, Brad Cicala, described to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport as “contract related.”
Kamara has two years left on his deal, though it’s essentially a one-year contract, with the running back set to make $10.2 million in base salary and only $1 million guaranteed.
None of the $22.4 million base is guaranteed in 2025.
The Saints and Kamara have had discussions over a contract restructuring for several months.
However, progress has yet to be made, according to NFL Network.
On Thursday, Saints head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that Kamara had been on hand for walk-throughs and “I haven’t had a chance to talk to him, so I’m not sure why he wasn’t out there.”
Allen maintained that he was unaware as to why Kamara had not been present several times while speaking with reporters.
“I have no idea. I haven’t talked to Alvin so, that’s all I’ve got for you,” Allen said, according to ESPN.

“I’m really not going to get into any of that stuff. At the end of the day, I said what happened and I haven’t had an opportunity to talk to him, so I think it would be unfair to make any statements on that right now.”
By skipping the last day of minicamp practice, Kamara could be risking a $16,953 fine from the Saints
Kamara did not attend OTAs this year, though that has been the norm for the back the past several offseasons.
He did partake in practices through the first two practices of mandatory minicamp.
“I’ve got access to all [the practice film],” Kamara told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s not like I’m just not in the building and nothing is happening. I talk to these dudes and some of my teammates. I talk to some of the coaches. I don’t know, I think it’s like a weird little narrative going on, I don’t know.”
