He got all choked up over his baby sister.
A Michigan family has gone viral after a gender reveal celebration left one of the participants gasping for air.
Peg and Nick Theobald from Grand Rapids, MI posted the video late last month featuring their sons Adler and Everson.
In the video, which as of Wednesday had racked up 16.5 million views, the family can be seen holding white cupcakes that, when bitten into, will reveal the sex of their new member.
After taking a big bite out of their treats, the family of four erupt into cheers of delight when they see that the new family member will be a girl.
Both Nick and Everson rush to congratulate a tearful Peg while Alder — his mouth still full of cake and frosting — smiles wide for the camera.
It’s then things take a turn for the worst when Alder starts grasping his throat and having a coughing fit.
The still-celebrating family, oblivious to the boy’s ongoing struggle, continues to revel in the joy of the brand-new addition to their family.
“I can’t breathe,” says Peg with unintentional irony as Alder turns to get her attention.
It is then that she notices her child struggling for breath.
“Are you ok,” she asks before holding out her hands silently indicating to the child to spit out the mixture. “Oh, my goodness.”
The boy’s father then attempts to clear his son’s airway by thumping him on the back.
“Are you ok,” his father asks.” Take a deep breath buddy.”
Alder finally manages to dislodge the offending crumbs as the video ends.
The Post reached out to the Theobald family for comment.
Several TikTok users were also quick to comment on the failed reveal.
“The way he kept eye contact while choking to death,” commented on user.
“Telling someone ‘take a breath’ when they’re choking is for sure going to be my new response going forward,” giggled a second person.
“Gained a girl almost lost a boy,” snarked a third person.
Other users commented that they felt guilty laughing at the boys pain.
“I feel so guilty laughing at the poor kiddo. But also, what are we having,” said one person.
“Why am I wheezing over the poor kid choking,” questioned a second person.
“Since you posted this I knew he had to have been fine but I still feel so guilty for laughing as hard as I did,” admitted one TikTok user.
Still, the gender reveal was consider tamer than most of the ones circulating on social media.
In June, a mommy-to-be saw red after seeing pink and went on a destructive rampage and destroyed her entire gender reveal party.
The expectant Illinois mother flipped over tables, smashed decorations and ripped off her festive regalia after learning she would be having another daughter.
In May, a woman’s fiancé totally derailed the announcement of their incoming tot’s sex when he kicked a gender reveal ball — which was meant to explode into a colorful cloud of dust — into a neighbor’s backyard.
In another failed reveal, a woman claimed that her mother-in-law spoiled the big day by telling family and friends the baby’s sex ahead of the party.
After numerous gender announcement tragedies, mommy blogger Jenna Karvunidis — who is credited with “inventing” the gender reveal party — apologized in 2019 for starting the trend.
“Who cares what gender the baby is,” wrote Karvunidis, 39, in a now-viral Facebook post. “Assigning focus on gender at birth leaves out so much of their potential and talents that have nothing to do with what’s between their legs.”
