Alexis Ohanian didn’t forget.
During an appearance on “First Take” on Thursday, the Reddit co-founder, who is married to Serena Williams, playfully jabbed at Smith over previous comments he made about the couple’s marriage.
Back in February, Smith threw a dig at Ohanian on “First Take” when he weighed in on Williams’ cameo during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance at this year’s Super Bowl — saying Williams should get back with her ex-boyfriend, Drake.
“Also Stephen A. Smith I think you had some marriage advice for me, is that right?” Ohanian said at the end of segment promoting his Athos track & field competition in New York, beginning Thursday night.
“Well you know what, listen I did it… headlines are headlines, we can get into that another time,” Smith replied. “Oh, I am not qualified. Married? Oh no, not me?”
Ohanian added that he had hoped to confront Smith, who appeared on the show virtually, in-person.
“You hadn’t been married before, right? ‘Cause I give advice to plenty of founders who want to build billion-dollar companies. And the reason I do that is because I build billion-dollar companies,” Ohanian said. “So I generally try to stay in my lane with advice.”
MJ Acosta Ruiz, who was filling in as a host amid ESPN’s search for Molly Qerim’s replacement, chimed in as she cut to commercial.
“Then we’ll talk marriage advice later, I’m 13 years strong,” she said. “Alexis, thank you so much.”
During “First Take” in February, Smith was critical of the Williams after many believed she joined Lamar on stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in perceived shade to her ex-boyfriend, Drake, as both rappers are feuding.
“If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass,” Smith said at the time. “‘Cause clearly you don’t belong with me. What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”
During an interview with TIME, the tennis legend explained that she was “absolutely not” shading her ex when she danced to Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a diss track aimed at Drake.
Williams explained that working with Lamar was a long time in the making, and that it was a way to pay homage to Compton, Calif., where they both were born and raised.
Williams and Drake dated in the 2010s, and he previously revealed he wrote his hit song, “Too Good,” with Rihanna for Williams.
