After weeks of being on trial for allegedly murdering his wife and son, Alex Murdaugh has unexpectedly taken the stand to testify in his own defense.
In June 2021, the two members of the disbarred attorney’s immediate family were found dead in their home after being shot multiple times. While Murdaugh has insisted he is not the killer ever since finding their bodies at their South Carolina estate, he was still charged on two counts of murder after a 13-month investigation.
So far, an emotional Murdaugh denied that he “blew his son’s brains out” with a rifle, adding that “I would never intentionally do anything to hurt either of them. Ever. Ever,” according to The Daily Mail‘s coverage of his testimony. However, he did admit to lying to police about his whereabouts the night of the murders, which he blamed on his paranoia caused by his drug addiction.
After the last-minute decision to give his own testimony, we could understand how true crime junkies could be searching high and low for this trial. Luckily, we have you covered! Keep reading for more information.
