The fifth and final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel features the show’s most ambitious episodes yet, and in true Amy Sherman-Palladino fashion, Maisel‘s final hours include a number of exciting Gilmore Girls guest stars.
In Season 5, Episode 3, “Typos and Torsos,” we get a fresh Gilmore showdown when Susie (Alex Borstein) visits Benedetta (Kelly Bishop, the iconic Emily Gilmore) in jail. And in Episode 6, “The Testi-Roastial,” Borstein shares multiple scenes with Gilmore alums Sean Gunn, who played Kirk, and Danny Strong, who played Doyle on the 2000s mother-daughter dramedy.
“It was kind of funny. We were thinking about how we were all up in one scene together, Danny and Sean, and I. It’s fun, you know?” Borstein told Decider over Zoom when asked about the show’s beloved Gilmore reunions.
Before further reflecting on the Gilmore cameos throughout the season, Borstein took a moment to honor former co-star and friend Brian Tarantina, who died in 2019 at age 60. Tarantina was known for roles as Bootsy on Gilmore Girls and Jackie, the emcee at the Gaslight comedy club where Susie and Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) first met. After Tarantina passed, Maisel wrote Jackie a touching farewell storyline, which featured an emotional tribute from Susie.

“We all kind of have that Gilmore connection. And it’s cool when you come around in another life and re-meet these people again and you’re different characters and it’s a pleasure. It’s nice that they keep making it possible for us to reunite,” Borstein said with a chuckle.
Maisel Season 5 also welcomes back returning Gilmore Girls alum Chris Eigeman, Milo Ventimiglia, and Jane Lynch. Over the years, Sherman-Palladino’s Prime Video show treated Gilmore fans to guest roles and cameos from other Gilmore actors, including Scott Cohen, Emily Bergl, Liza Weil, and Bailey De Young.

Fans of Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino’s shows know that no one delivers starstudded surprises quite like this duo, so in addition to a slew of Gilmore Girls reunions, Maisel Season 5 also features appearances from Darren Criss, Hank Azaria, and Bunheads lead Sutton Foster. Talk about marvelous!
With three episodes left in the series be sure to keep an eye out for more guest stars. And if you’re in the mood to revisit cameos past, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is currently streaming on Prime Video.
