NextImg:ALERT: ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Returns to 90-Minute Episodes Tonight

The moment that Drag Race fans have been waiting all year for is finally upon us: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 starts airing 90-minute episodes tonight, March 10, on MTV. So clear your schedules and maybe take a few extra dollars to the bar, because you’re gonna be out and in the thick of it for at least an extra half hour. And we’re getting into the 90-minute episodes just as the stand-up comedy challenge arrives. I can’t wait to see how this turns out…

This follows a season of highly controversial hourlong episodes that many fans felt shortchanged the queens, especially their expensive runway looks. Drag Race returned to hourlong episodes for its move to MTV after airing five seasons of 90-minute episodes on VH1. The edit resulted in less time with the queens in the Werk Room, abbreviated runways, less time spent with the judges, and even less time spent in the Maxi Challenges. This shift also split the main series from its after-show, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. Instead of airing back-to-back like they have for the past five years, Untucked was moved to an hour later.

That changes tonight. After a whole lot of fan outcry (and even a change.org petition), RuPaul’s Drag Race returns to its previous 90-minute format, followed immediately by RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. MTV’s new Friday night lineup looks like:

If you’re curious about how to watch or stream RuPaul’s Drag Race on MTV, keep reading!

A cable login is the quickest way to join the race. If you have a cable login, you can stream Drag Race live on MTV.com. If you don’t have cable, you can stream MTV via a number of live TV streaming services: Philo, DTV STREAM, Fubo TV, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, and Sling TV if you pay for the “Lifestyle Extra” with MTV.

If you don’t have cable and if you don’t want to sign up for a live TV streaming service, you can always purchase episodes individually or by the season on VOD services like iTunes or Prime Video. Episodes are generally added to VOD for purchase the morning after they air on MTV (although sometimes there are delays).

If you’re wondering exactly how many 90-minute episodes we’re going to get this season, well, here’s what we predict. There were 16 episodes in Season 14 — a season that had one fewer queen in the cast. So with that in mind, the rest of the season could look like…

RuPaul’s Drag Race returns to 90-minute episodes tonight on MTV starting at 8 p.m. ET.
