Alec Baldwin commemorated the final days of Rust in a new post on his Instagram account, where he congratulated the cast and crew for getting through the tragedy-stricken production.

Baldwin shared a photo of his co-stars Frances Fisher and Patrick Scott McDermott on set Monday (May 22) evening.

“Last day of filming RUST in Montana,” he wrote in the caption. “Sorry that I did not get to work with this living legend, the great @francesfisher. Patrick, I envy you.”

The caption continues, “It’s been a long and difficult road. But we reach the ned of the trail today. Congratulations to Joel, Bianca and the entire cast and crew. Nothing less than a miracle.”

Baldwin appears to be relieved to put this chapter behind him.

This is not the first time he’s celebrated the end of production on Rust. Just last week, he shared a photo of himself without the beard he grew for the role, with the caption, “God, it felt good to shave off that beard.”

The western has been fraught with legal troubles since cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot when a gun Baldwin was holding went off on set during filming in October 2021. The involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin were formally dropped in April, though the set armorer is still facing charges in Hutchins’ death.

Now, Baldwin is expected to star in the historical drama Kent State, a feature film about the infamous Kent State University shooting where four students were killed while protesting the Vietnam War.

Baldwin will star as university president Robert I. White.
