This ruffled his feathers.
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy tried to flaunt his status to get on an American Airlines flight to the Democratic National Convention — after he missed boarding because he was grabbing Chick-fil-A, a report said Wednesday.
A source who spotted McCoy at the Albany International Airport told the Albany Times Union he heard the local pol bringing up his title and supposed power over the airport when arguing with staffers at the gate to reopen the plane doors.
“They wouldn’t open (the door) for him even after he told them he was county executive and that he was going to see the president (and Vice President Kamala) Harris, and that he was in charge of the airport,” the unnamed source told the Times-Union.
The witness said McCoy and one of his staffers did arrive in time, but then wandered away to go grab a bite at the fast food fried chicken restaurant a quick jaunt down the terminal.
While McCoy was polite, he “dropped his name several times,” the source told the Times-Union.
But “the American Airlines person didn’t care or know who he was.”
An airline agent said to McCoy “you shouldn’t have gone and gotten (food), you would have made your flight,” the source added to the local newspaper.
McCoy and his staffer ended up getting on a different flight to Chicago on another airline later Monday, the report said.
McCoy’s spokesperson, Mary Rozak, couldn’t be reached for comment by The Post. Rozak told the Times-Union she “can’t speak to what happened or didn’t happen at the airport.”
No public funds were used on the trip to the DNC, she added.

McCoy has recently denied plausible reporting suggesting he happens to be jostling to give himself a soft landing from elected office and take a job running the airport.

The county board that oversees the airport recently refused to renew the contract of the airport’s current long-time director without explanation. McCoy appoints three of the seven members of the panel.
Many other pols heading to the convention were left stranded in New York airports on Sunday due to flight delays caused by a storm system moving through the region, not chicken sandwiches.
Chick-fil-A didn’t respond to a request for comment.
