Alaskans are bracing themselves for a “bone-chilling” week after setting the 100-inch snow record.

Anchorage and its surrounding areas saw more than a foot of snow falling in each of the last three days as the white powder continues to be dumped on the state, Fox Weather’s Cody Braud told The Post Tuesday.

The state has broken its 100-inch record, accumulating 104.3 inches of snow since July 1, 2023.

The record was last broken on Feb. 3, 2012. The 2011/2012 snow season still maintains its record for most accumulation, clocking in at a massive 134.5 inches.

This year’s season is on track to break the 2012 record.

But not all residents are celebrating the accomplishment. Tamera Flores, an elementary school teacher, said the snowfall has been “miserable” and described it as a “pandemic of snow,” according to The Mirror.

Damon Fitts, however, is used to it and brushed it off. saying “Us Alaskans are definitely built different.”

“We can handle 100 inches of snow and still make it to work on time. We can put up with a lot,” he said.

Just this month alone, the Last Frontier State has seen 24.8 inches, according to Braud.

So far, the snow has caused one fatality, killing a 19-year-old Talkeetna resident, who was a passenger in a pickup truck that was involved in a crash, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Around this time last year, Alaska saw just over 60 inches of snow, according to Alaska News Source. On an average year, the state would have seen just under 50 inches.

This is the second season in a row that the Alaskan capital has seen more than 100 inches fall, with last year clocked in 108 inches, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Despite the high snowfall over the weekend, Alaskan residents will get a break as a “bone-chilling” cold is expected to rush through this week, Braud told The Post, with temperature stay around or below zero. AP

“They’re in the clear for at least the rest of the week,” the Fox meteorologist said, although he warns Anchorage residents to clear off the snow packs ahead of the next storm as leaving the densely packed fluff could cause “damage.”

“Take the time to prepare now for the next time,” Braud said, as the state will “more than likely get more snow.”

More snow could roll through the 49th State starting in mid-February as a “handful of systems are affecting that area,” the meteorologist said.
