An Alabama man featured on the hit podcast “S-Town” was killed by police during a standoff over the weekend, authorities said.

Joseph “Tyler” Goodson, 32, was shot and killed by police when he barricaded himself inside a house in Woodstock early Sunday, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) told The Post.

At about 1:39 a.m. Sunday, Goodson posted a haunting final Facebook update that read “police bout [sic] to shoot me down in my own yard,”” WIAT reported.

Multiple law enforcement agencies descended on the Woodstock property after receiving a “call for service,” the ALEA explained.

As of Tuesday, it was not clear exactly what incident prompted the initial call.

The ALEA is reviewing the shooting and will turn its findings over to the Bibb County district attorney.

Goodson shot to national notoriety six years ago when he was featured in the podcast “S-Town,” the Peabody Award-winning series produced by the team behind “Serial” and “This American Life.”

The podcast chronicled antique clock restorer and Woodstock native John B. McLemore and his complicated relationship with the area – which he referred to as “s–t town,” prompting the show’s abbreviated title.

McLemore died by suicide in 2015 at age 49 – two years before “S-Town” hit the airwaves.

Goodson appeared on the podcast as one of Woodstock’s residents and something of a mentee of McLemore’s.

“Because you know, I ain’t ever had no daddy worth a damn. He’s just about the only daddy I’ve got,” Goodson said of the older man in the podcast’s third episode.

After the podcast debuted, however, Goodson’s life appeared to spiral into chaos: In June 2017, he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of burglary and theft for taking items from McLemore’s property after he died, WIAT noted.

Goodson claimed that McLemore had left the items – including cars and tattoo equipment – to him.

Goodson posted an Facebook shortly before he was killed.

He ultimately pleaded guilty to a suspended sentence that included five years’ probation.

The town is now waiting for “answers and details” about Goodson’s death, Mayor Jeff Dodson said in a statement Monday.

“Please remember at this time that he is so much more than a character to the fans who loved him,” Dodson asked the public.

Goodson is believed to have had five children at the time of his death. Facebook

“This young man was a father, son, brother and friend to many,” he concluded.

At the time of his death, Goodson was believed to have five children, WIAT said.
