In their first-ever shared campaign, Hollywood icons Al Pacino and Robert De Niro cozy up for the holiday season wearing Moncler.
The campaign, called “Warmer Together,” tells the story of the actors’ 50-year friendship as well as the Italian luxury outerwear brand’s 70-year legacy.
Though Pacino and De Niro have never teamed up as brand faces until now, the legends have appeared in multiple films together throughout their long friendship, including greats such as “The Godfather: Part II” (though not in the same scenes…), “Righteous Kill,” “The Irishman” and more.
Shot in New York by photographer Platon, the high-contrast black-and-white images convey five themes: friendship, respect, connection, trust, and warmth.
It also includes a photo of the pair sitting on set chairs on a roof overlooking the Manhattan skyline, shot from the back.
Both De Niro and Pacino are integral to the culture of not only filmmaking in the city, but also New York as a whole; the fit seems flawless.
In an ode to both the cozy nature of the brand’s timeless puffer jackets and the friendship shared between the two, De Niro teases in the press release, “Warmth was never about the outside. It was always about what was happening on the inside.”
Pacino echoed his sentiments, adding, “Friendship is the greatest thing you can have. Friends, people whom you share the same world with. There is just an innate trust. And the understanding of life.”
In a statement from the brand, Moncler stated that they are “proud to connect with these two great friends, and two greats of cinema, to share its enduring belief in human warmth.”
Though the campaign was shot before the untimely loss of Diane Keaton, both greats lost a dear friend (as well as on-and-off-screen love interest) in the late actress.
De Niro spoke to the Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I am very sad to hear of Diane’s passing. I was very fond of her and the news of her leaving us has taken me totally by surprise. I was not expecting her to leave us. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.”
In 2017, when presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to Diane Keaton, Pacino shared, “I feel as though I’ve known you my whole life … You’re an artist, Di. You’re a great artist. I remember it and I love it and I love you.”
The actor has previously referred to Keaton as the love of his life.
