NextImg:Adrian Peterson threatens ‘legal action’ after trophies auctioned off without consent

NFL legend Adrian Peterson says he has not fallen on hard times, and that some of his football trophies have been auctioned off by mistake.

A number of Peterson’s awards, including his 2007 Rookie of the Year trophy and his 2012 MVP trophy, went up for auction this week, and there was speculation that the former running back could be broke despite having made $100 million in salary during his NFL career.

In a video on Instagram, Peterson said that a company he had contracted to clear out his storage units put the items up for sale in violation of his instructions.

“I want to clarify recent rumors and media reports,” Peterson said.

“An estate sale company, without my authorization, included some of my trophies in a sale, despite clear instructions to leave personal items untouched. I did not authorize the sale of any of my trophies, and I will be taking legal action.”

Peterson’s rep told TMZ that they have made numerous inquiries to the company in question, Texmax Auctions, about resolving the issue, but have not gotten a response.

“Trusting this company without supervision was my mistake. I allowed them to go into several of our storage units, with clear instructions,” Peterson continued in his video.

“They clearly did something unlawful. I want to emphasize that I am financially stable, and would never sell off my hard-earned trophies. And if I was gonna sell them, I know people that I can sell them to. I wouldn’t go online and sell my personal items, so let that sink in.”

Peterson rushed for nearly 15,000 yards in a career that spanned from 2007-21, including 10 seasons with the Vikings.

He made seven Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro four times.
