Emmys 2025

15-year-old Owen Cooper made history tonight as the youngest male actor to win a Primetime Emmy Award.

Cooper won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series for his portrayal of Jamie Miller in the intense and acclaimed award-winning Netflix crime-drama miniseries, Adolescence.

The previous youngest male Emmy winner was Scott Jacoby, who won at the age of 16 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama for his work in the 1972 made-for-TV film That Certain Summer.

On the women’s side, the youngest ever female Emmy winner was Roxana Zal at just 14 years old for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Special in the 1984 television film Something About Amelia.

Cooper joins a list of some of the top young winners at big award shows, including the youngest female (and youngest ever) Academy Award-winner, Tatum O’Neal, who won Best Supporting Actress at 10 years old for her work in 1973 road comedy-drama film Paper Moon, as well as the youngest male Academy Award-winning actor, Timothy Hutton, who won Best Supporting Actor at age 20 for 1980 drama film Ordinary People.

Cooper will continue to build upon his already impressive burgeoning career with upcoming roles in the 2025 comedy-drama miniseries Film Club and the 2026 Gothic psychological drama film Wuthering Heights.
