NextImg:Adidas beefing with ‘dusty’ Kevin Durant in social media skirmish

Adidas’ savage tweet at Kevin Durant is gone but not forgotten.

The shoe brand announced the release of Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ first signature sneaker, the AE1, on Friday.

In an interview with Nice Kicks, Edwards was asked which other player he would most like to see rock his shoes in a game.

Edwards answered, “KD”, acknowledging that Durant has a deal with the rival Nike brand, while adding, “I want to see him put on the AE one time in game.”

When Nice Kicks highlighted this quote on X, Durant scoffed at the notion.

“Won’t EVER see me put a big toe in those MFers,” Durant tweeted.

Adidas blasted the Suns superstar in return.

“U dusty bouta retire soon anyway,” the apparel brand’s social media manager fired back at Durant.

Adidas deleted the tweet, but nonetheless appeared to double down on a feud with the NBA star, who has been caught using fake social media accounts in the past.

“meant to send that from the burner account…” Adidas wrote in a new response to Durant.

Durant, 35, has struggled with injuries in recent years.

He missed all of the 2019-20 season with an Achilles injury, before playing in 35 games in 2020-21, 55 in 2021-22 and 47 last year.

Nonetheless, he does not quite see the light at the end of the tunnel.

“I want to play until I can’t no more, man,” Durant told The Ringer earlier this year.

“A title is incredible, but what it’s going to mean to me as an individual? I want to win a title for a city, for my teammates, for the organization. Is it going to get me more notoriety, more attention, a ring? It’s not really about me. That’s how I look at championships. So I want to do this together. I’m looking forward to going on the journey with these guys.”
