Adam Sandler will be reuniting with Uncut Gems director Josh Safdie for his newest Netflix stand-up comedy, Love You.
Netflix didn’t share many details about the upcoming special; however, the trailer shows Sandler strumming his guitar and declaring his love for the audience several times. It also takes a chaotic turn when a dog strolls out to the audience, prompting Sandler to ask, “What the fuck is happening?”
The stand-up special will premiere on Netflix Aug. 27.
Love You marks Sandler’s first comedy special since the 2018 stand-up 100% Fresh.
Sandler’s production company Happy Madison extended its deal with Netflix in 2020 to make four more films for the streamer after his 2019 comedy with Jennifer Aniston Murder Mystery became Netflix’s most popular film in 2018.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos praised the move, noting Netflix audiences “love his stories and his humor.”
The comedian has since delivered several acclaimed comedies to the streamer, including the 2022 sports film Hustle, the 2023 sequel to Murder Mystery, and the family comedy You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, which also starred his two daughters.
And the comedian has even more projects coming down the pipeline. He’ll soon be starring opposite George Clooney in a new Noah Baumbach film, as well as another project with the Safdie brothers, according to his IMDb.
Netflix also greenlit a sequel to Sandler’s classic comedy Happy Gilmore.
Sandler’s co-star Christopher McDonald confirmed that the film is already “in the works,” but it may be a few years before we get to see Happy Gilmore on the green again.
Details about Happy Gilmore 2 are still being kept under wraps. For now, however, Sandler fans will be able to tune into his newest comedy special when it premieres later this month.
