Golfer Adam Hadwin was trying to celebrate with his fellow countryman, instead, he got leveled like a tackling dummy.
Nick Taylor had just sunk a 72-foot putt to become the first Canadian to win the RBC Canadian Open in 69 years when Hadwin ran onto the green to try and celebrate with his friend.
Hadwin, also a Canadian, came out spraying a bottle of champagne before a security guard in a black jacket tackled Hadwin to the ground.
An audible groan could be heard from the crowd as Hadwin was taken to the ground before others ran over in an attempt to inform the security guard who that was.
In video from the broadcast, it appeared Taylor’s caddy broke away from the celebration in order to intervene as well.
Broadcaster Jim Nantz also acknowledged the moment in the midst of the celebration.
“They’re storming the green now. They just tackled Adam Hadwin, by the way, who was trying to approach his friend,” Nantz said. “Security did. Not knowing that’s exactly who it was.”
Nantz as best as he could turned the focus back on the historic moment.
The tackle seemed to just add to the moment that was taking place at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto. Taylor had hit the dramatic winning putt on the fourth playoff hole to defeat Tommy Fleetwood to complete an incredible comeback.

Taylor opened in a tie for 120th place before he clawed his way back into the tournament over the next three rounds
“I’m speechless. This is for all the guys that are here. This is for my family at home. … I’m very speechless. This is the most incredible feeling ever,” said Taylor afterward, according to CBS Sports. “I had a similar lie on the second playoff hole. I knew it was going to be slow with how much rain we’ve had. I wanted to get as [close as] I can because Tommy, I thought he was going to make it for that to go in. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know what to say.”
Sunday marked the first time since 1954 that a Canadian won the Canadian Open, and it had been even longer since a Canadian-born golfer won the tournament. Pat Fletcher, who was born in England, was the last Canadian to accomplish the feat and Carl Keffer, who was born in Canada, last did it in 1914.
The RBC Canadian Open was Taylor’s third career title on the PGA Tour.
