A shooter opened fire at an Atlanta hospital Wednesday afternoon, injuring multiple people, police said.

The active incident was underway at Northside Hospital Medical Midtown on West Peachtree St in the heart of a busy commercial district.

No arrests had been, according to officials, and hundreds of heavily armed officers were on scene, WSB-TV reported.

Several people were taken out of the building on stretchers, and traffic was shut down in the area, according to the station.
