The Giants expect great things from Abdul Carter and the edge rusher from Penn State is now officially in the fold.

Carter, 21, on Thursday secured his first NFL contract, signing a four-year rookie contract for $45.3 million, all fully guaranteed.

Included in the deal is a signing bonus of $29.5 million.

As a first round pick, the Giants also have the fifth year option available for Carter for the 2029 season, if necessary.

During the spring, Carter took part in the rookie minicamp and is working out at the team facility for the offseason program. The first organized team activity practice is May 27.

Carter was the No. 3-overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, coming off the board after the Titans selected quarterback Cam Ward and the Jaguars traded up to No. 2 to take wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.

Carter had 12.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss in 2024 for the Nittany Lions

The Giants are planning to use him as an outside linebacker and also at times as an inside rusher, as he played on the inside his first two years at Penn State before moving to the edge this past season.

Adding Carter to a defensive front that included Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux — all former first round picks — should bolster a defense that also added cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland in free agency.
