Ava Coleman is running a tight ship in the new season of Abbott Elementary — and her charming misfit crew of teachers are not loving it.
In the Season 3 trailer that was released earlier this week, Coleman (Janelle James) reveals that she spent her summer at Harvard, where she “learned what it truly takes to do the job of a principal.”
With Ava trading out her unorthodox antics for a stricter leadership style, history teacher Jacob (Chris Perfetti) declares, “She must be stopped,” before second-grade teacher Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) and kindergarten teacher Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) enlist who they believe will be the principal’s Achilles heel: her crush, substitute teacher Gregory (Tyler James Williams).
“We cannot stand any more of the ‘new Ava’ and you are a very powerful tool,” Barbara tells Gregory, who later flexes his muscles in Ava’s doorway as he seductively says, “All these rules are so … hard.”
However, Ava is unimpressed, telling him, “Here’s a rule: put your arms away Jeremy Allen Black,” referencing the current craze over The Bear star Jeremy Allen White.
As Quinta Brunson‘s Janine says in the trailer: “You guys missed a lot.”
