NextImg:Aaron Rodgers loving New York City life with Jets: ‘Pinching myself’

These streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you!

Aaron Rodgers has been “pinching” himself to make sure he’s not dreaming about life with the Jets in the Big Apple.

Those were the quarterback’s own words, as he surprised his buddy Pat McAfee on the former punter’s birthday by calling into his eponymous show and gushing about his time so far in New York City with the Jets.

“It’s been great,” Rodgers said. “Everything is new. It’s like the first day of school every single day. There’s new people to meet, gotta figure out your routine, where the laundry goes, mail, cleats, weight room shoes and all the stuff. Everything’s new, exciting and fun.

“I’m just pinching myself a lot of days. I can’t believe it’s real sometimes. It’s been a dream for sure just to be here. I definitely feel energized to be in the building.”

It is a honeymoon period that Jets fans have been savoring — it’ll almost be a shame when they have to play the actual games.

Rodgers was extra careful to make sure this was not intended as a slight to the Green Bay community or the Packers.

“That takes nothing away from the 18 beautiful years I spent in Green Bay,” the 39-year-old said. “How could you ask for anything better than that, and just such a special place to play.

“But, 18 years in the same spot, you kind of get used to everything, and everything is the same-old-same-old in a lot of ways, which has its beauty for sure, but with everything new, and embracing the change, and things that aren’t as comfortable as they used to be, it’s been a lot of fun.”

Rodgers has been out and about around town, going to Madison Square Garden on Saturday and Sunday for Rangers and Knicks playoff games.

He told McAfee he plans to return to MSG on Tuesday night for Game 2 of the Knicks-Heat series and will be sitting courtside with standout Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner.

Rodgers also said the Mets have reached out to him about going to a game, and that while he hasn’t heard from the Yankees, he’d love to check out one of theirs as well and potentially throw out a first pitch.
