Let the quarterback “Shake It Off” in peace.
Aaron Rodgers’ new Jets teammate jumped to his defense over the weekend after Twitter had a field day over footage of the quarterback grooving to Taylor Swift during her blockbuster Eras Tour at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.
Jets defensive end John Franklin-Myers responded to a video on Twitter that featured Rodgers, 39, moving to Swift’s smash single, “Shake It Off,” with a drink in his hand.
“Y’all weird, why can’t he dance in peace,” Franklin-Myers wrote, adding a crying-laughing emoji.
Rodgers attended the concert with his good friend, actor Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Teller.
The group enjoyed the show from a VIP area, with actors Ben Stiller and his wife, Christine Taylor, also taking in Swift’s performance.
Rodgers, who previously revealed his plans to attend Swift’s concert, rocked a blue long-sleeve shirt and aviator sunglasses.
The four-time league MVP was seen dancing and smiling throughout the night in a number of fan-captured videos on Twitter.
Sebastian Joseph-Day, a defensive end for the Los Angeles Chargers, complimented Rodgers’ moves in a response to Franklin-Myers’ tweet.
“Aye, why buddy dance better than you,” Joseph-Day wrote, adding, “He got rhythm,” with a few crying-laughing emojis.
Franklin-Myers responded with: “No lie. I’m taking dance classes next year tho.”
Rodgers told Adam Schein on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio on Wednesday how he intended to check out one of Swift’s three shows in East Rutherford, New Jersey, adding he’s a “big fan” of the 12-time Grammy-winner.
Rodgers also said his favorite album of Swift’s is “Folklore” — the artist’s eighth studio album, which was released in July 2020.
“My favorite song off that album is probably ‘August,’ and my favorite music video is ‘I Bet You Think About Me,’ which came out recently, a year or so ago, I think — and a couple of my friends, Miles Teller and his wife, are in it. … I love that music video,” Rodgers told Schein.
Rodgers appears to be enjoying his time in the spotlight ever since the Jets officially acquired him in a trade with the Packers last month, just days before the 2023 NFL Draft.
The quarterback has been spotted out in New York City and across the Hudson River in Hoboken.
Rodgers has attended Rangers and Knicks playoff games with some of his new teammates, as well as celebrity hotspots, including Carbone — Major Food Group’s A-lister Italian restaurant.
He also reunited with a group of his former Packers teammates at the Kentucky Derby on May 6, including Raiders star receiver Davante Adams.
Many of Rodgers’ Jets teammates — including some of his former Packers teammates that joined him in New York — have expressed how happy the quarterback is with his change of scenery.
“The dude just shows up to work, and he’s just so f–king happy right now,” Jets offensive tackle Billy Turner — who spent three seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay — said, according to Fox News.
“It’s very cool to witness and see because it doesn’t matter how long you’re in this profession, it’s the type of profession where regardless of how long you spend in it, you can always experience something new. And he’s experiencing something new for the first time in his career, and it’s cool to be part of and watch.”
