Observations for Jets’ practice on Wednesday.
The biggest oohs and aahs from the fans in attendance on Wednesday came at the conclusion of Aaron Rodgers first series against the starting defense, when he completed a beautiful 30-yard TD pass to Allen Lazard over Sauce Gardner.
The opposite crowd reaction had come a few minutes earlier, when Mecole Hardman Jr. and Xavier Gipson muffed consecutive punts. The crowd cheered sarcastically when Hardman fielded the next one cleanly.
Breece Hall has looked shifty and elusive as ever while working his way back from last year’s season-ending ACL surgery, breaking into the secondary multiple times on rushing plays.
The four-time MVP was 2-for-5 on the Lazard touchdown drive, then connected on nine of his next 10 passes midway before a sloppy final sequence that featured two false starts and at least two drops saw him finish the day 12-for-21.
Lazard left the field for the locker room late in the session but no reason was given for his departure. Offensive lineman Joe Tippmann (knee) returned to practice. — Peter Botte
