Observations from Jets training camp on Tuesday.
It was a strong day for defensive end Jermaine Johnson. Coming off a breakout second season, Johnson had a would-be sack of Aaron Rodgers and took down receiver Xavier Gipson for a loss on a jet sweep. He was very active throughout practice.
Rookie running back Isaiah Davis fumbled on a botched handoff with backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor. The offense, however, recovered the loose ball.
Receiver Irv Charles, known for his work as a special teams ace, caught a pair of touchdown passes from Taylor. One was a bomb through double coverage in which Charles tipped the ball to himself.
This was one of Rodgers’ best practices of training camp. After a slow start, in which he missed on four of his first five passing attempts, he finished 20-of-30 with three touchdown passes, two to wideout Garrett Wilson. He finished the afternoon by hitting running back Breece Hall for a touchdown down the left sideline. Rodgers also used his legs a few times to extend drives when nobody was open.

TE Jeremy Ruckert has a concussion, coach Robert Saleh said. OT Tyron Smith didn’t take part in team drills. He did participate in individuals.
