The Jets’ Aaron Rodgers era has officially begun as the star quarterback strode into training camp in style on Wednesday.
Rodgers, 39, who was acquired by the Jets in April after 18 seasons in Green Bay, arrived at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park sporting silver glasses and a black shirt, ready to get to work.
Gang Green’s training camp is the first to open in the NFL.
The team is getting an early start because they are booked to play in the Hall of Fame game in Canton on Aug. 3 against the Browns, whose camp begins on Friday.
Rodgers’ first camp with his new team will be closely documented as the Jets were selected as this year’s “Hard Knocks” subject despite objecting to the intrusion.
The QB’s highly anticipated entrance made the Jets a top choice out of the teams that could be forced into production.
“I understand the appeal with us. There’s a lot of eyes on me, a lot of eyes on our team. A lot of expectations for our squad,” Rodgers said while talking with KPIX in Lake Tahoe at the American Century Championship golf tournament last week.
“They forced it down our throat, and we have to deal with it.”
Cameras and all, Rodgers will make his first impression as a Jet this week ahead of a 2023 season wrapped in high expectations.
