Aaron Rodgers sounds like he’s not returning for the Jets this season, but his time with the franchise could extend beyond next season.
Rodgers, 40, admitted Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he is not fully recovered yet from the Achilles tear he suffered four plays into the first Jets game of the season, and he’s still three to four weeks away from being able to play.
“If I was 100 percent today, I’d be pushing to play,” Rodgers said. “But the fact is, I’m not.”
The Jets were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday, making a Rodgers return over the final three weeks an unnecessary risk.
However, Rodgers wanted to give the Jets two seasons and considers this season a lost one.
“I don’t think next year will be my last year,” Rodgers said.
