The news isn’t getting any better on Aaron Judge.
There’s still no timetable.
There’s still discomfort in his big right toe when he walks.
And on Saturday afternoon, he revealed for the first time there is a tear in the toe.
There was some hope he would begin baseball activities Sunday, but that’s no longer the case.
They are still managing the pain.
“If I could run, I’d be out there, playing defense … and just figure out hitting,” he said.
The Yankees had termed the injury a contusion and ligament sprain.
He suffered the injury while making a running catch and crashing into the outfield fence at Dodgers Stadium on June 3.
Three weeks later, there isn’t any clarity on how long he will be out.
Last year’s AL MVP has received two platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to reduce swelling around the injury, but they haven’t fixed the problem yet.
“It feels better, but still not great,” he said. “If it was better, I would be out there.”
Without Judge, the Yankees have struggled mightily offensively, going 6-10 since the injury, and trail the Rays by 10.5 games in the AL East.
