TAMPA — Aaron Judge had an MRI exam on his abdomen area Monday, which he said came back clean, but he still hasn’t resumed swinging.
Judge added he’s not sure when he’ll play again this spring, adding he was “pretty sure” he’d be ready for Opening Day on March 28.
“I don’t want to speculate,” Judge said.
He was initially scheduled to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, but that won’t happen.
“I’m a little banged up, so we thought it best to take a couple days,” Judge said at Steinbrenner Field. “I’ll be back out there soon … The most important thing is Opening Day.”
Judge said he’s been feeling the discomfort in the area for about a week, primarily when he follows through on his swings.
He was still scheduled to go through defensive drills in Tampa on Tuesday.
Judge called the discomfort “slight” and plans to resume swinging “maybe later this week.”
