Aaron Jones closed out 2023 by catching a punch to his face.

The Packers’ running back caught a stray following the Packers’ 33-10 road win over the Vikings on “Sunday Night Football” when he attempted to “deescalate” the situation.

Andrew Booth Jr., a Vikings cornerback, and an inactive Packers player, stood face-to-face after the game when Jones walked over.

As the Packers player shoved Booth, it caused Booth to raise his arms.

His outstretched right hand then connected with Jones’ face.

Jones then grabbed Booth’s facemask and pushed him away, while Packers receiver Malik Heath threw a punch at Booth’s shoulder pads.

Tucker Kraft and Jones continued to push Booth away before creating some distance as other Vikings stepped in.

“We were walking out to shake hands and I see one of our players having an interaction with a Vikings player, who just finished playing, and they get in each other’s face and going at it, and start shoving, so I just kind of tried to deescalate, move them to the sideline, and we were good after that,” Jones said in his postgame interview with NBC’s Melissa Stark.

NBC’s Cris Collinsworth praised Jones for how he handled the situation.

“I give Aaron Jones credit for not throwing a bunch and doing something to maybe get suspended or whatever, because, hey, we got something going here, let’s not blow it post-game,” Collinsworth said.

Jones played a significant role in the Packers (8-8) seizing control over their postseason destiny by rushing for 120 yards on 20 touches against Green Bay’s NFC North rival.

Green Bay grabbed a 23-3 halftime lead and cruised to victory, while the Vikings yet again played quarterback carousel as rookie Jaren Hall flopped.

The Packers are the seventh seed in the NFC and will secure a postseason berth with a home win over the Bears in Week 18, but can miss the playoffs if they lose.
