Fresh off a big win at the SAG Awards, a major Oscar is now streaming online less than one week before the ceremony.
Based on the nonfiction book “Dylan Goes Electric!” by Elijah Wald, “A Complete Unknown” charts Bob Dylan’s meteoric rise to fame, beginning in 1961 and culminating during the night that changed everything four years later: the 1965 Newport Folk Festival where Dylan went electric.
Dylan is played in the film by Timothée Chalamet, who took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor on Sunday. Chalamet is also nominated for his performance at the upcoming Academy Awards, and a win could make him the youngest person to ever win Best Actor (breaking the record set by Adrien Brody, also nominated this year).
In his 3.5 stars (out of 4 stars) review of the film, The Post’s entertainment critic Johnny Oleksinski wrote, “The 28-year-old “Dune” actor, who convincingly does all his own singing here, was the perfect choice to play Dylan. Really, the only choice. He makes the movie.”
He continued, “Carrying his indie roots with him like a membership card on every frame, Chalamet has Dylan’s same art-before-fame persona, his New York cool, his hair that’s blowin’ in the wind. Most vital, he ably handles the singer’s signature nasal twang in both song and speech.”
“A Complete Unknown” scored eight nominations at the 2025 Oscars; in addition to Chalamet’s nod, the film is up for Best Picture, Best Costume Design, and Best Sound. Supporting actors Edward Norton (playing Pete Seger) and Monica Barbaro (Joan Baez) received nominations as well, and director James Mangold was recognized in both Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay (shared with Jay Cocks).
If you’re reading this, “A Complete Unknown” is now streaming! The movie’s streaming release date is Feb. 25.
“A Complete Unknown” is available for digital purchase on Prime Video. The film costs $24.99 to rent or $29.99 to buy.

Rentals are available for 30 days from the purchase date and once played, you’ll have 48 hours to finish the movie.
