NextImg:A child and her father tried to crash my kid’s sixth birthday party

When mom Sarah* (name changed) was planning her son’s sixth birthday party, she never anticipated that she would have to deal with party crashers.

Sarah booked the party at a local soft play centre and invited 15 of her son’s friends and classmates for a run and climb and some food afterwards.

She explained in her post on a popular advice forum, “The dining area is sort of in the middle of the play area, there is stuff around it but it’s clearly fenced off with signs saying, ‘These areas are booked for private parties today’.”

She continued, “Imagine our surprise then when not one but two separate random kids decided to sit with our party at different times.

Sarah asked the first kid to go find her parents and she disappeared and they didn’t see her again. “It’s fair enough, it’s a mistake a kid can make and she probably just wanted a cupcake,” Sarah writes.

But getting rid of the other kid wasn’t as easy…

“The second kid goes to find her Dad, brings him back, and he says, ‘No, we were invited, we know the birthday child,’ ” she said.

“Dude, my kid is the birthday child, we’ve never seen you before in my life, what the actual f–k are you trying to pull here?!?!”

People were equally as outraged in the comments.

One person assessed, “I can understand a child not really fully realising that they might be crashing a party at that age, particularly at some of these soft play areas where kids inadvertently wind up interacting. The audacity of the adult on the other hand trying to claim they were invited… that’s a new one.”

Someone else said,  “That dad 100% sent his kid over there to save himself a few bucks.”

Others laughed that the dad referred to the mom’s son as “the birthday child” – “as that’s totally how you’d refer to a kid that you know!”

Then another user urged the OP to “tell the staff, he would totally try and pull this again at other parties.”

“Well someone has no shame. I would have asked him which kid was the birthday child and given him $20 if he could ID him,” joked another.

Someone then asked, “I’m dying to know, what did you say to him when he claimed to know the birthday child?”

The OP replied, explaining, “I said, “No, you don’t. I’m the birthday child’s mother, we don’t know you and you need to take her away.”

“I then see him queuing up at the counter to buy her a bag of chips and a small chocolate bar.”
