V.J. Edgecombe became the third overall pick in the draft when the 76ers took the 6-4 guard. 

The decision to take the Baylor product came amid the debate over whether the Sixers would try and trade the pick and whether they would take Rutgers star Ace Bailey, who had cancelled a workout with the 76ers prior to the draft.

Bailey wound up going No. 5 to the Jazz.

Edgecombe averaged 15 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in his only season with Baylor and should pair well with star guard Tyrese Maxey in Philadelphia.

“He’s got pro written all over him,” a scout previously told The Post. “People will question his shooting ability until you need to make a shot to win a game. He’ll make that shot.”
