KPop Demon Hunters is one of the latest Netflix Original releases to take the world by storm. Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, this animated musical fantasy film — which has been sitting at the top of the Netflix Top 10 ever since its release — follows the beloved K-pop girl group Huntrix as they balance a successful music career with their obligations as Hunters who are destined to protect the world from demons through the power of song.

But when the evil demon king, Gwi-Ma (Lee Byung-hun), allows his subject, Jinu (Ahn Hyo-seop), to create a demonic boy group called the Saja Boys so they can use music to steal souls in the human world, Huntrix is challenged like never before. Not only do the Saja boys attempt to top the girls on the charts, but they also play dirty to destroy the magical barrier between the human and demon worlds, known as the Honmoon.

In the midst of this all-out battle, Huntrix leader Rumi (Arden Cho) is losing her voice as she struggles to reconcile her Hunter destiny with the half-demon heritage that she hides from everyone, even her fellow Huntrix members and best friends, Mira (May Hong) and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo). Jinu hopes to use Rumi’s inner conflict to crush Huntrix, but the more he interacts with the gutsy K-pop idol, the harder it is for him to stick to Gwi-Ma’s plan.

KPop Demon Hunters uniquely blends animation, South Korean culture and media, supernatural elements, slapstick comedy, heartwarming coming-of-age, and, of course, K-pop music, to culminate in a genre-bending hit in a league of its own. With that in mind, we’ve crafted a list of titles that either share a few specific similarities with KPop Demon Hunters, or ones that you’ll at least enjoy if you loved the aforementioned toe-tapping, butt-kicking Netflix film.

Whether you want more K-pop content, vibrant visuals, or stirring songs, our list should have something for you. Here are the 7 movies and shows that KPop Demon Hunters fans should stream next:

  1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse

Much like KPop Demon Hunters, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a trailblazing film full of eye-catching animation, self-aware humor, compelling characters, a great soundtrack, and secret identities. This 2018 superhero film follows New York City teenager Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as a radioactive spider bite gives him the superhuman abilities needed to become the next Spider-Man. But after coming face-to-face with an alternate dimension’s jaded 38-year-old Spider-Man, Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), Miles discovers that there are many universes of Spidey heroes that he’ll have to learn from and work with in order to stop evil crime lord Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) from destroying reality as they know it.

This might initially seem like a sharp left turn from other titles in this list, but Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE could be an engrossing watch for KPop Demon Hunters viewers who enjoyed the movie’s elements of K-pop, female friendships, and music that reaches the entire world. Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE is a Netflix Original docuseries following aspiring young pop stars from all over the map as they train relentlessly amidst injuries, high emotions, and harsh feedback to make it in HYBE x Geffen’s first global girl group, KATSEYE.

If you’re looking for another sweet story that involves self-acceptance, a charming boy band, and East Asian cultures, then we’ve got just the title for you. Turning Red is a Pixar-animated 2022 coming-of-age fantasy dramedy film about 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl Meilin “Mei” Lee (Rosalie Chiang) who becomes the victim of a family curse that turns her into a giant red panda whenever she experiences strong emotions. As if trying to balance a burgeoning adolescence and trying to live up to the expectations of her strict, overprotective mother, Ming (Sandra Oh), weren’t already hard enough, now Mei will have to reconcile with this fuzzy new identity threatening to upend her life.

  6. Business Proposal

Although it doesn’t seem to share many similarities with KPop Demon Hunters on the surface, Business Proposal is a must-see title for anyone who enjoyed the musical movie. Not only does KPop Demon Hunters use one of Business Proposal‘s original songs to underscore a very K-drama-esque slow motion meet-cute (sort of) between Rumi and Jinu, but the voice of Jinu is also the male lead in Business Proposal, so they’re more connected than you think!

Business Proposal is a South Korean romantic-comedy series that follows Go Food researcher Shin Ha-ri (Kim Se-jeong) as her favor for a friend leads to a case of mistaken identity and fake engagement with her boss, Go Food CEO Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-seop), that just might set the groundwork for an entertaining and unexpected real love story.
