Jake Moody is out of a job.

The 49ers are waiving the struggling kicker on Tuesday after another disastrous game on Sunday against the Seahawks, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Moody missed a 27-yard chip shot in the second quarter of San Francisco’s 17-13 win in Seattle.

In the third quarter, Moody had a game-tying field-goal attempt blocked in what proved to be the final straw for the 49ers.

Moody’s kicking issues date back to last season when he made just 24 of 34 field goal attempts, making just 10 of 20 tries from at least 40 yards out.

In the final three games of 2024, Moody made just 2 of 6 attempts with a missed extra point.

During his rookie season after being drafted in the third round in 2023, Moody had been solid, hitting 21 of 25 field goals.

Over the offseason, Moody had undergone a mechanical change in an attempt to improve his play, switching from a three-step approach to a two-step start.

Some 49ers players were reportedly “ticked-off” after the second miss on Sunday.

“That missed kick is really causing some frustration on the 49ers sideline,” Fox’s Pam Oliver reported on the broadcast after the two missed field goals. “I saw two thrown helmets and a lot of ticked-off looking players.”

After the game, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan appeared to back Moody, saying there was “no question” about his roster spot.

“It’s just the way you guys ask it. Right now, I have no question,” Shanahan said. “I’m trying to finish today, go get on a plane and evaluate stuff, and go back at it.

“You guys can ask me every day and I’ll answer how I am right at that moment.”

Shanahan later indicated that the entire kicking operation has to improve after the short miss and block.

“Obviously, I was disappointed we missed two field goals,” Shanahan said. “Missed one, which is a big miss … the next one, (Julian) Love made a hell of a move … We got to clean up the operation. That one wasn’t Jake, that’s the whole operation. We got to do better.”
