


Police are searching for a 4-year-old girl who last seen a week ago at a Manhattan homeless shelter before her mother allegedly handed her over to another woman.
The child, Katalina Rios, was last seen with her mom around 8:40 p.m. on June 23 at The Marcel at Gramercy hotel on East 24th Street, which has been serving as a homeless shelter.
A few days later, the mother, who has not been publicly named, reportedly checked herself into a hospital for an unknown reason.
On Thursday, nearly a week after her final sighting, Katalina was reported to the police as missing, according to the NYPD.
The child’s mom said she handed Katalina to an unidentified woman in front of a government building, which she could not name, according to police sources speaking to NBC New York.
The 4-year-old has not been seen or heard from since, and there was no information immediately available on the woman who allegedly took her.
Katalina was described as having brown eyes and black hair. Police did not have a description of what she was wearing the day she went missing.
