


Three people were shot dead in New Jersey on Wednesday night, including a 7-year-old girl and an armed man suspected of killing her, according to reports.
The young girl was found dead at the scene Wednesday night with a gunshot wound to the chest after authorities reached the house on Johnson Avenue for a domestic dispute call, sources told ABC 7.
As officers were responding to the home around 8:45 p.m., police spotted an armed man.
Cops shot the man, who was later pronounced dead, the station reported.
A third person was also killed in the initial shooting, CBS New York reported.
“Tonight, there was a tragic shooting that left three people killed, including a child, and the perpetrator,” Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said in a statement early Thursday morning, according to CBS. “Three people dead. It’s tragic.”
Fox 5 reported the suspect tossed a gun as he ran from police before pulling a second gun, leading officers to open fire.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to News 12 New Jersey a child was killed, but no other details were provided.
A semi-automatic handgun was seen in the street as detectives were on the scene, ABC 7 reported.
The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General was leading the investigation of the shooting, News 12 reported.
