The 3-month-old Bronx girl whose lifeless body was found in a wooded area has been identified by police – as investigators question her parents in connection to her death, authorities and police sources said Monday,
Genevieve Comager’s body was discovered around 8:25 p.m. Sunday at West 161st Street and the Major Deegan Expressway, cops said.
The infant – who lived at a nearby shelter with family – was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers, cops said.
While police are still probing what led to Genavieve’s death, the circumstances appear suspicious, police sources said.
The baby’s 23-year-old father and 20-year-old mother are being questioned – with police zeroing in on her dad, police sources said.
No charges had been filed by Monday morning.
The infant’s body was found by authorities when they searched the area after the girl went missing from the shelter, sources said.
The NYPD was originally called to the shelter earlier in the day after a family member contacted the city’s Administration for Children’s Services concerned about the baby, cops said.
The shelter is located on University Avenue and is classified as transitional housing.
The medical examiner will determine the baby’s cause of death.
