NextImg:2025 Jets predictions, player props: How we’re betting Justin Fields’ first season in New York

Justin Fields will get every chance imaginable with the Jets in 2025.

With Tyrod Taylor, who the franchise has little incentive to put behind center this season, as his backup, only injuries or utterly disastrous play will remove Fields as the QB1 in New York.

That should lead to some solid counting stats for the fifth-year signal-caller.

In a brief stint as the Steelers’ starter last season, Fields seemingly cut back on running the ball, leaning more towards a pocket-passer approach, which is why I’m targeting his passing props ahead of Sunday’s opener.

In 10 appearances and six starts with Pittsburgh, Fields posted career-bests in completion rate (65.8 percent), interception rate (0.8 percent) and passer rating (93.3) with five touchdown passes and just one pick.

As mentioned, Fields didn’t run the ball as often as he had in two seasons prior, averaging 9.1 rushing attempts and 38.5 rushing yards per game in his six starts, both of which would have been his lowest since his rookie season.

The Jets already feature a solid two-headed running attack with Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, which is a much better ball-carrier duo than Fields has ever had behind him.

Fields’ full-season props are some of the most discounted on the market.

If he can keep his pace for the last couple of seasons, he’ll blow them out of the water.

Will this season be regarded as a successful one for Fields and the Jets? I’m not sure.

But will he put up numbers? I believe so.
