During President Biden’s tenure, both Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas proclaimed, ” The border is secure.” This, despite the fact that an estimated 250,000 illegal aliens per month were entering the U.S. in the greatest border catastrophe in American history.

At least 500 individuals on the Terror Watch List were encountered by the Border Patrol in 2023 alone. Given that such individuals have a special incentive to avoid detection and capture, no doubt many more were “gotaways.” House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green estimated that at least 10,000 Chinese nationals — the vast majority single, military-aged males — entered the country in the first half of 2023 alone, along with 57,000 inadmissible Russian nationals. Moreover, the Biden Administration failed to deport more than 1.2 million individuals with removal orders.

Much of the news media downplayed the Biden administration’s staggering dereliction of duty, most of the time refusing to cover it altogether. The magnitude of the influx has shifted an estimated 17 electoral votes and 17 House seats in favor of Democrats. Moreover, the House Committee on Homeland Security estimates the annual cost of illegal immigration to the public fisc (for food, housing, education, medical care, etc.) to be a staggering $451 billion per year. Tens of thousands of illegal aliens with criminal records slipped into the country during the Biden administration.

For much of 2024, Democrats and the legacy news media insisted that passage of a Biden-backed bill negotiated by Sen. James Langford (R. Okla.), Sen. Chris Murphy (D., Conn.), and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I., Ariz.) was imperative for border security. The bill failed 43–50, after which Democrats and the legacy news media blamed such failure on Trump’s opposition to it and proclaimed that the border crisis now would remain insoluble.

Apparently not. In February 2025, the Border Patrol encountered only 8,500 illegal aliens at the border, an astonishing 94 percent drop from the previous February. All without a bill, which all of the smart people claimed was absolutely imperative for border security.
