There is a ridiculous photo on X this week of two women in handmaidens costumes talking to soldiers from the National Guard in D.C.’s Union Station.
We are supposed to believe this is a snapshot of a menacing time to be alive in Donald Trump’s tyranny.
Debate crime in D.C. and the federal role, but let’s not be ridiculous.
These were, I assume, protesters. Handmaid costumes — as from The Handmaid’s Tale — have become commonplace for left-wing protests, most especially when they have anything to do with abortion, though that latter is far from mandatory.
Particularly frightening in the photo is the Guard who is waving at the camera.
As other photos on social media have suggested, the National Guard may be more bored than a threat to anyone, especially law-abiding citizens.
But what this Corner post really is really about, is the timeless post from our Alexandra DeSanctis Marr during Amy Coney Barrett’s Senate confirmation hearings:
One for the ages, reminding us both how ridiculous our politics have become and how all-around impressive ACB is.
