At least six people have been killed as Russia unleashed another barrage of airstrikes in Ukraine overnight, using 208 drones and 27 missiles to hit targets across the country, the Ukrainian Air Force (UAF) reported on Saturday.
The UAF said Ukrainian air defences had shot down 183 drones and 17 missiles. The main focus of the Russian attack was the Dnipropetrovsk region, in eastern Ukraine, where three people were killed and five more were injured, Governor Serhiy Lysak said. Russia also struck an Epitsentr mall near the city of Dnipro, causing the building to catch fire and burn down. Other buildings also suffered damage.
Meanwhile, three people were killed and two wounded in Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeast of the country, according to Governor Ivan Fedorov.
Nine people were injured in an attack on the Kharkiv region, in the country’s east, including three emergency services employees and two medics, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov, with residential buildings, cars, a gymnasium and administrative buildings damaged.
Three people were also injured due to an overnight glide bomb attack in the northeastern Sumy region. Four houses were set ablaze, while several high-rise buildings and infrastructure facilities suffered damaged, according to Governor Oleh Hryhorov.
Another 10 people were wounded by shelling in the Donetsk region on Friday, with private homes and administrative buildings suffering damage.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the latest night of Russian aerial attacks on his country, while warning that Russia needs to feel repercussions. “The accuracy of our drones and the daily nature of the Ukrainian response is one argument that will bring peace closer,” he wrote on Telegram.
