A 78-year-old woman died when a Russian drone struck a residential area in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Sunday.
Russia launched a total of 57 drones across Ukraine overnight, 18 of which were shot down, the Ukrainian Air Force (UAF) reported. The UAF said frontline areas in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions had all come under attack.
A pensioner was injured in the Zaporizhzhia region, the authorities reported, while two people were injured when a Russian drone struck a suburb of the city of Kherson, in the south of the country, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defences had shot down 93 Ukrainian drones overnight, with the western Bryansk region, Moscow and the Moscow region the most heavily targeted.
A Ukrainian drone struck a home in the city of Zelenograd, near Moscow, breaking news channel ASTRA reported in the early hours of Sunday. The drone strike set cars alight and broke windows. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said emergency services were working at the site of the attack, which had caused no serious injuries or casualties.
State-owned news agency TASS reported that Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky Airports had all imposed temporary restrictions on outbound and incoming flights due to drone activity on Sunday morning, though these were subsequently lifted.
