NextImg:WHOA: CBS Hires Former Conservative Think Tank Head as CBS News Ombudsman

The far-left liberal partisans inside CBS News suffered another blow Monday morning as the network revealed they had hired Ken Weinstein, the former CEO and president of the right-leaning think tank Hudson Institute, as its ombudsman to investigate concerns about its news coverage (read: media bias).

In a release on its website, CBS described the role as “review[ing] editorial concerns raised by employees and viewers” and “will report to Paramount President Jeff Shell,” not CBS News President Tom Cibrowski.

Weinstein said he’s “honored to serve as Ombudsman for CBS News, one of the most respected journalistic institutions in the world” and will focus on “supporting the talented team behind its reporting and to stewarding public trust in this critical institution.”

Shell said Weinstein assumes the role “[a]t time when trust in media is more important than ever” and thus “reinforces our commitment to truth, trust, and accountability.”

“I’ve known him for many years and have great respect for his integrity, sound judgment, and thoughtful approach to complex issues. Ken brings not only a wealth of advisory experience in media and beyond but also a calm, measured perspective that makes him exceptionally well-suited,” Shell added.

CBS also provided a short bio, including Weintein’s leadership of Hudson Institute between 2011 and 2020, experience on the board of “the United States Agency for Global Media, from 2017 until 2020,” and teaching at the conservative Claremont McKenna College.

Variety had more details on Weinstein’s role:

Weinstein will investigate any concerns raised by CBS News employees or outsiders that have complaints, and if he determines it requires action, will bring it to Shell and CBS chief George Cheeks. If the three of them believe it requires further action, the trio will work with CBS News president and executive editor Tom Cibrowski, “who will recommend and implement any necessary action steps.”

Another bad sign for the activists inside the eyeball network? New York Times reporter Michael Grynbaum flagged this screenshot of an X post by Weinstein giving his thoughts about the January struggle session inside CBS Mornings because co-host Tony Dokoupil chose to do his job:

If Oliver Darcy, David Folkenflik, Brian Stelter, and all the rest of the liberal media apologists out there weren’t already losing their minds over the changes that could be coming to CBS, they certainly might be now.
