With government shutdown going into effect overnight, the liberal ladies of ABC News’s The View were out in force Wednesday trying to wash the hands of Congressional Democrats of their major role in what was unfurling. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg literally pulled out a card with Democratic Party talking points denying the fact they wanted to fund free healthcare for illegal immigrants, something the Republicans did not want to go along with.
To prove which party they were aligned with, The View led the show with soundbites of Clinton administration hack George Stephanopoulos pushing the Democratic Party’s lies as fact as his battled with Speaker Mike Jonson (R-LA), and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) pushing the same talking points (Click “expand”):
STEPHANOPOULOS: The Democrats' proposal, which is designed to prevent millions of Americans from losing health insurance, losing Medicaid coverage or paying higher healthcare premiums. Why are you against that?
JOHNSON: That's an absurd statement what you said there. Let's be clear about what happened last night –
STEPHANOPOULOS: It's a factual statement.
JOHNSON: No, George – [Transition] -- The Democrats said instead that they wanted to give healthcare to illegal aliens instead of keeping critical services provided for the American citizens. That's what happened. Plain and simple.
[Transition]
JEFFRIES: Donald Trump and Republicans have shut the government down because they don't want to provide healthcare to working class Americans. Federal law prohibits the use of Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and the Affordable Care Act to provide health insurance in any way, shape, or form to undocumented immigrants, period, full stop.
Following the soundbites, Goldberg declared “we want to just say it one more time” as she pulled out a literal card with the Democratic Party’s talking points and read from it:
The administration is claiming this is about Democrats wanting to give healthcare to undocumented people. This is not true. The Democrats want federal subsidies to continue to help American citizens afford Obamacare policies and reverse cuts to Medicaid. Neither of those changes, neither one of those changes would provide health coverage to undocumented immigrants. They are not eligible for any of those programs. None of them. And haven't been for decades.
“Not eligible. Against the law. It's not -- they're not telling you the truth those guys,” she kvetched at Republicans. “We always have to clear up, because if the lies are fast and furious and they just come out and it's like you got to constantly swing the ball.”
Thinking she was being smart and that she found a flaw in the Republicans’ argument, Joy Behar argued: “They keep throwing them out of the country anyway. I don't know what they are talking about. Who are these people getting it? They keep getting rid of them.” As if sanctuary cites weren’t still a thing.
Sunny Hostin chimed in next with the falsehood that illegal immigrants paid into Social Security, and griped that they would never get a payout:
Those that are here that may be undocumented do pay millions and millions of dollars into our system, into our Social Security, into other programs for Americans that are citizens and so I think that's something that, of course, Republicans aren't talking about, but Democrats should be talking about that as well.
The only way to pay into Social Security was with a Social Security Number, which were illegal for illegal immigrants to have. So, if they had one it was likely stolen.
A few minutes later, pretend independent Sara Haines wanted to reiterate Goldberg’s claims. She suggested President Trump was “telling a false story” about illegals getting free healthcare. “[T]hey are not privy to any of the healthcare system and people need to look that up if they don't trust me and know it for themselves,” she proclaimed.
But that was a lie.
Faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin tripped up Haines with this fact check, forcing her to walk it back:
FARAH GRIFFIN: Other than emergency services.
HAINES: Sorry, ER –
FARAH GRIFFIN: Which they should be, absolutely.
Despite just being caught in a lie she swore up and down was true, Haines insisted that it was the Republicans spinning untruths. “I think the problem here is people need to actually do their own research on this because you cannot trust the messaging,” she whined. “The Republicans are great at messaging! So you have to do your own research, look this up for yourself!”
Speaking of doing one’s own research, The View should not be trusting with information about the healthcare industry. Just last December, Goldberg flaunted her profound ignorance about health insurance payouts works by wondering why she (as a multimillionaire) couldn’t get back unspent money she paid her insurer.
It's also worth noting that The View has made it clear that the show was just a vector for delivering Democratic Party talking points to the masses and they weren't shy about it.

[Cuts to video]
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: The Democrats' proposal, which is designed to prevent millions of Americans from losing health insurance, losing Medicaid coverage or paying higher healthcare premiums. Why are you against that?
SPEAKER MIKE JOHNSON (R-LA): That's an absurd statement what you said there.

REP. HAKEEM JEFFRIES (D-NY): Donald Trump and Republicans have shut the government down because they don't want to provide healthcare to working class Americans. Federal law prohibits the use of Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and the Affordable Care Act to provide health insurance in any way, shape, or form to undocumented immigrants, period, full stop.
[Cuts back to live]
SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah.
GOLDBERG: And we want to just say it one more time. [Picks up taking points card and proceeds to read from it] The administration is claiming this is about Democrats wanting to give healthcare to undocumented people.
HOSTIN: Right.
GOLDBERG: Not eligible. Against the law. It's not -- they're not telling you the truth those guys.
JOY BEHAR: They keep throwing them out of the country anyway. I don't know what they are talking about. Who are these people getting it? They keep getting rid of them.
HOSTIN: Those that are here that may be undocumented do pay millions and millions of dollars into our system, into our Social Security, into other programs for Americans that are citizens and so I think that's something that, of course, Republicans aren't talking about, but Democrats should be talking about that as well.
GOLDBERG: We always have to clear up, because if the lies are fast and furious and they just come out and it's like you got to constantly swing the ball. And I think what we now have to do is say here's what's accurate. It is inaccurate to say undocumented workers are getting these and that's what the government shutdown is. That's all I wanted to make sure y’all knew.

SARA HAINES: Donald Trump is doing what he did when he ran for the election and won. He’s telling a false story. And I want to repeat what you said, Whoopi, undocumented immigrants – doesn't matter about the taxes, anything else – they are not privy, they are not privy to any of the healthcare system and people need to look that up if they don't trust me and know it for themselves.
ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Other than emergency services.
HAINES: Sorry, ER –
JOY BEHAR: Can I say something?
HAINES: Wait, one second, Joy.
[Crosstalk]
FARAH GRIFFIN: Which they should be, absolutely.
HAINES: I think the problem here is people need to actually do their own research on this because you cannot trust the messaging. Right now, on the White House -- the shutdown is called the Democrats shut the government down. The Republicans are great at messaging! So you have to do your own research, look this up for yourself!
