NextImg:The View & Klobuchar Team Up, Stoke Fear of Leaner Government Spending

After claiming that opposing wokeness was “ungodly” and “not Christian,” the liberal ladies of ABC’s The View continued their Monday show by bringing on Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN) so they could team up against Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency. Together they whined about how the Trump administration was cutting out wasteful government spending and claimed – without evidence – that the money saved was going to corporations and “corruption.”

“Voters are concerned about his actions on the economy and executive overreach,” proclaimed co-host Sunny Hostin. “What do you make of this shift in the electorate? Are voters having remorse -- voters remorse already?”

Klobuchar agreed and suggested that since DOGE started cutting spending, “corruption is up,” with Hostin suggesting the cut funds were somehow getting funneled to corporations:

KLOBUCHAR: I think so, and it's going to keep building given what he's doing, but chaos is up, corruption is up, and costs are up. And like you said, ask anyone in the egg aisle. And part of this is you've got to look at what's going on. He and Elon Musk, they're looking for money everywhere. And they are literally -- costs are going up for you while they're giving the tax cuts to their rich friends.

HOSTIN: Corporate profits.

At no point did anyone provide evidence for their claims.

“And if any worker right now is failing their probationary period in the United States government, it is Elon Musk, okay? That's the guy because what he is doing as an unelected billionaire,” Klobuchar chided.

The next question came from pretend independent Sara Haines, who clutched her pearls over President Trump telling Musk to keep at it with the cuts and do more:

And Senator, you heard us talking about Elon Musk a little earlier who's been charged with slashing the spending kind of haphazardly with no understand of what he's cutting necessarily. President Trump said over the weekend, he wants Elon to get even more aggressive.

“I think many people understand that there's probably something -- there's some merit there, but how they're doing it is completely out of control,” Haines added.

The Senator claimed she wanted to remove waste and make the government more efficient, but huffed that what Musk and DOGE were doing were not how CEOs operated (Click “expand”):

When a new CEO comes in, and they decided they want to take a new direction with a company, yeah, they make some cuts sometimes. They look at certain divisions and they say, ‘we don't need to do this anymore,’ or they look at employees and say, ‘does this have merit right now?’

That's not what they did. They went across the board and cut out, as you know, some of the most eager employees, the youngest employees, the newest people that have come in and are excited about the government, or people that have years of experience. And so, that's going to matter.

As they were nearing the commercial break, moderator Whoopi Goldberg rehashed her profound ignorance of NASA’s contracts with Musk’s SpaceX. Obviously oblivious to the fact that NASA relied on SpaceX to carry their astronauts and cargo, Goldberg bitterly demanded that all the contracts be cut; as Hostin insanely claimed the contracts numbers into the “billions”:

GOLDBERG: And keeping the most expensive stuff like Elon Musk and all of those -- all of his

HOSTIN: Billions of contracts.

GOLDBERG: His contracts. That is expensive stuff that we pay for. We pay -- we are paying this guy.

HOSTIN: SpaceX.

GOLDBERG: SpaceX and all the other stuff that he's done, we're giving him money. I didn't elect him. I don't want him.

NewsBusters broke down Goldberg’s ignorance last week. And as her comment above showed, she couldn’t even remember the name of SpaceX.

SUNNY HOSTIN: We're only a month in. The latest Gallup poll already shows President Trump as the most unpopular president in over 70 years. Seven decades. Voters are concerned about his actions on the economy and executive overreach. But other than lowering the price of eggs, he seems to be doing exactly what he said he was going to do, exactly what was outlined in project 2025, the 900-page sort of roadmap to what he's doing.

What do you make of this shift in the electorate? Are voters having remorse -- voters remorse already?

SEN. AMY KLOBUCHAR (D-MN): I think so, and it's going to keep building given what he's doing, but chaos is up, corruption is up, and costs are up. And like you said, ask anyone in the egg aisle.

HOSTIN: Yeah.

KLOBUCHAR: And part of this is you've got to look at what's going on. He and Elon Musk, they're looking for money everywhere.

HOSTIN: Yes.

KLOBUCHAR: And they are literally -- costs are going up for you while they're giving the tax cuts to their rich friends.

HOSTIN: Corporate profits.

KLOBUCHAR: And they're looking for money to do that. And it's really important we make that case to people because as you noted, they always talk about other people, but you are the other people. And instead of, you know, helping you with child care costs and making that more affordable, they decided to go out and help the people that committed violent crimes in the United States Capitol and gave them pardons.

SARA HAINES: Yep.

KLOBUCHAR: And instead of doing something to make your getting a house more affordable for your kids, they decided go out and try to buy Greenland when it's not even for sale. So, those are the cases we have to make.

And if any worker right now is failing their probationary period in the United States government, it is Elon Musk, okay? That's the guy because what he is doing as an unelected --

HOSTIN: It's probably unconstitutional.

KLOBUCHAR: Billionaire. Yes. That's why you're seeing these lawsuits.

HAINES: Yeah. And Senator, you heard us talking about Elon Musk a little earlier who's been charged with slashing the spending kind of haphazardly with no understand of what he's cutting necessarily. President Trump said over the weekend, he wants Elon to get even more aggressive.

How does this look going forward?

KLOBUCHAR: A bigger chainsaw.

HAINES: A bigger chainsaw.

ANA NAVARRO: I wanted to make a size joke there, but I'm going to hold on.

KLOBUCHAR: I know. I know. I could feel it coming.

HAINES: I think many people understand that there's probably something -- there's some merit there, but how they're doing it is completely out of control.

What do you say to that?

KLOBUCHAR: So, I want to see reform. We all want to see our government work better. And to me, they have this efficiency – What we want is it to be more effective. Right? You want veterans to get their benefits, you want to make things move faster, you want to get projects permitted faster. And there's a whole bunch of things we can do that wanna –

And when you start doing things like cut out avian flu people on the front line, and then say, ‘Oh, we accidentally fired them, and now we want them to come back.’ How many of them are going to come back? Or when you say, ‘oh, we accidentally fired the people watching over the nuclear stockpile,’ and then maybe 20 percent of them goes, ‘I'm not going back to that place.’

This is going to have a profound effect on our government and what's happening. It doesn't mean that you never make any cuts. It's how they're doing it for shock and awe instead of actually making our government more effective, which is what we should want.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: And keeping the most expensive stuff like Elon Musk and all of those -- all of his

More with Senator Amy Klobuchar when we come back.
