NextImg:SERIOUSLY? CNN and MSNBC Are Doing the ‘Mostly Peaceful’ Meme Again

Back in 2020, the corporate media’s dishonest mantra that the George Floyd riots were “mostly peaceful,” became something of a joke among conservatives, due to just how absurd and untrue it was. And yet, they’re deploying that same inaccurate terminology again, this time in their attempts to excuse the fiery anti-deportation riot in LA this past weekend.

To begin with, the term “mostly peaceful” conveys practically no meaningful information, and in fact it’s liable to give the listener a flawed understanding of whatever’s being described. Practically speaking, New York was mostly peaceful on 9/11, and Hawaii was mostly peaceful during the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack, because in both instances the carnage was contained within a relatively small region, outside of which everything was business as usual.

And if “mostly peaceful” is a technically accurate description of, for example, 9/11, then it has basically no informative value at all — aside from the inherent implication that somebody, somewhere, was being less than peaceful.

Technically-true terms that give a wildly false impression of reality are a valuable tool for propagandists, because they allow the speaker to mislead without having to tell an outright lie. That’s precisely why the media loved using descriptors like “mostly peaceful” back during the 2020 summer riots: because their goal was to misinform their audience in service of the rioters, whom they very obviously supported.

The same thing is happening here as well. The corporate media, who have long since proven to be full-fledged open border absolutists, are consequently opposed to any deportations for any reason. Thus, these journalists, in their contempt for government organizations like ICE and Border Patrol, are naturally on the side of the rioters.

In fact, the only issue that the media have with what went on in LA over the weekend was the bad optics, which they rightly worry could hurt the Democratic Party politically. And so, they did their best to clean the situation up, by spinning the false narrative that the rioters were just a bunch of harmless, peace-loving humanitarians.

This dynamic is obvious to pretty much everyone with a working set of eyes and an IQ above room temperature, but that doesn’t make it any less shameful. To that end, here’s how the media spent the past weekend doing PR for a bunch of violent, destructive anarchists waving foreign flags:
