Elon Musk and Donald Trump are now dramatically at odds, and no one is happier than the left-wing press. Time magazine's giddy headline was "The Musk-Trump Implosion Can Be Seen From Space." ABC "comedian" Jimmy Kimmel compared his thrill to being a kid at Christmas.
The New York Times today said Trump and Musk "retook the White House, slashed the federal government, and reshaped U.S. alliances...Yesterday, that relationship imploded in public. Perhaps, for two mercurial billionaires with large personalities and little tolerance for dissent, it was inevitable."
On CNN, New York Times podcaster Lulu Garcia-Navarro claimed "if you look at the history around the world of authoritarians breaking up with their oligarch buddies, those oligarch buddies don't end up in a good place. They either end up impoverished, imprisoned, or dead."
This week pundits compared Elon's DOGE efforts to the mass murders of Stalin and Mao, including "The View." NewsBusters Associate Editor Nick Fondacaro explains the craziness. Sunny Hostin claimed (without any evidence) that "his cutbacks on medical research cost the lives – for the foreign aid, cost 300,000 lives mostly children. That's the damage that Elon Musk did."
On PBS, David Brooks shamelessly smeared the Tesla titan, who's "probably," er "semi-responsible" for mass murder:
There are mass murderers in the world, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, Stalin. We don't have anybody on the list from America. And I don't think it's the same as committing the kind of genocide they did. But by taking away that agency and being at least semi-responsible for the deaths of probably, by the end of this, hundreds of thousands of millions of people, that's Elon Musk's legacy.
Nick also wrote up Whoopi Goldberg's bizarre claim that Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland -- who liberals seem to think is Obama 2.0 -- isn't being considered as a presidential candidate because blacks can't get elected president. In this case, Sunny Hostin reminded her we did that twice.
Then there's the defamation beat, where CNN national-security reporter Alex Marquardt suddenly announced he was leaving CNN, four months after his maliciously sloppy reporting on Zachary Young as a "black market" criminal cost CNN millions. Ex-CNNer Oliver Darcy reported Marquardt was canned. Nick is also following a potential defamation case in Buffalo as it unfolds on one of his favorite podcasts.
There's all this, and the fact that PolitiFact is horrible at "fact checking" and doesn't correct anyone smearing Musk as a mass-murderer. Enjoy the podcast below, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
