NextImg:NewsBusters Podcast: Leftist Media Should NOT Pose as Civility Cops

Toning down the rhetoric sounds like the right idea after political violence. But nobody thinks liberal journalists like CBS Face The Nation host Margaret Brennan or the ranting ladies of The View are the role models for civility referees. They have a blatant double standard on who gets to savage and smear their opponents.

Scowling Brennan fussed at Sen. Tom Cotton over an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal where he warned of “the threat from the radical left,” and suggested that’s inappropriate and inflaming “tensions.” This is what he wrote:

The threat from the radical left is clear: Don’t enforce immigration laws. If you do, left-wing street militias will burn down cities, and Democratic politicians will back the rioters.

That was true in 2020, and it's still true today.

Meanwhile, Democrat journalists and politicians routinely denounce Trump as a Hitlerian authoritarian, and that’s not inflaming “tensions.” Over the weekend, journalists didn’t want to apply any ideological labels for the protesters, many of whom despise Trump and the notion of enforcing the immigration laws. They carried signs with messages like “F--- ICE,  F--- FASCISM,” but reporters weren’t going to ask those people about their hot rhetoric.

MSNBC nodded along as protesters talked about "terrifying" anti-trans hate, the "racist, fascist, reactionary" policies of Trump, and how that parallels the rise of Hitler. One protester told Jacob Soboroff was a "f---ing felon." CNN put on a leftist named Justin Hubbard to call for ending ICE raids: "Today was to stand up against authoritarianism, against, honestly, the fascist policies that we see the Trump administration doing."

One reason the media lack credibility with most Americans is they display a double standard on almost everything, including the notion that we should tone down the rhetoric, and then they believe they role is to “check facts.” Meanwhile, they accept everyone comparing the elected president to the Nazis. They don’t sound like serious people.
