Collin Anderson at the Washington Free Beacon underlined who is selected to cover the Trump White House. The headline: “Politico Reporter Who Said She Cried Over Trump's Election Now Covers His Presidency.” What could possibly go wrong? When liberal media outlets hire liberals, it’s not a mistake. The liberalism is a qualification.
Cheyanne Daniels, who received a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern, was living in Washington, D.C. working as a news reporter for the Northwestern-affiliated Medill News Service when Biden defeated Trump in 2020. The tweets said it all:
On Nov. 7, 2020, the day the Associated Press called the presidential election for Joe Biden, Daniels tweeted: "4 years ago, I cried when I realized Donald Trump had been elected, knowing horrible things were to come. Now, I'm in my apartment in D.C., hearing people cheering in the streets screaming that he has been defeated, and I'm crying once again. But for a very different reason."
One week later, Daniels's euphoria seemed to fade. "Trump may have lost the election," she wrote, "but over 70 million people voted for him — and some of those voters were people who felt, like their demagogue, that MY life as a Black woman doesn't matter, that I shouldn't exist, I threaten the purity of white power."
Daniels swaggered around the news that Trump’s White House would have to hand over its official social-media accounts to Team Biden: "This shouldn't be news. Trump lost. Biden won. What's that thing Magatts said in 2016?? Oh that's right 'He'S yOuR pReSiDeNt GeT oVeR iT.”
In 2016, she tweeted "Trump — oh you don't deserve the truth people have thrown at you? Well, I don’t deserve a racist, homophobic, sexist, misogynistic president."
Now she's a "Breaking News" reporter. This isn't the first blatantly liberal Daniels at Politico -- Eugene Daniels just left for MSNBC.
Anderson noted that neither Daniels nor Politico, which says it delivers "straightforward facts and clear-eyed analysis" to "Cabinet secretaries and Ministers," responded to requests for comment. Daniels locked her X account shortly after the Free Beacon sought her comment. They also turned away requests from Fox News.
