NextImg:Fired ABC Reporter Terry Moran Hints God's Purpose For His Life Is To Warn About Trump

Former ABC senior national correspondent Terry Moran was fired for tweeting all sorts of nasty things about White House domestic policy advisor Stephen Miller, including that he is a "world-class hater," and ever since then has spent his time podcasting like a prime MSNBC opinion host than a straightforward newsman. On Thursday, Moran joined A Conversation With host Philip DeFranco to talk about the tweets, President Trump, and the journalism industry and suggested that his posts about Miller and comments about Trump are part of God’s purpose for his life.

At one point in the episode, Moran warned, “What we're seeing is no question what other countries have seen a lot, what our Founding Fathers predicted would happen, that a great strong man would, would, all right, not great in the good sense, but great in the power sense, right? Trump is the most dominant figure of our age around the world. Don't underestimate him. He is a world historical figure, and he is the man that we were warned about by the Founders, that democracies fall when a man who can captivate the populace wants to exercise the power that's there in the government, and that is what we're watching.”

Later on, he lamented his former industry colleagues are not even more anti-Trump, “I think that network news, corporate media, legacy media is failing the American people. And they have corporate pressure on them."

He also added, “They try to put it in their tone ... but they can't say the words of what's happening."

Concluding the show, DeFranco wondered, “And I know you mentioned your faith. I mean, with you, kind of, talking about your job in that way. Do you, do you feel like it's a calling, it's a, it's a God-given purpose?”

Moran bumbled and stumbled over words but essentially agreed, “And that would be a beautiful thing. Is it a vocation as they, as we say in the Catholic tradition? Yeah, yeah, I think so. I mean, I think, you know, the act of prayer, if I can get into that, is an act of hope and hope on being on the right on the right path. And that's why I kind of don't regret what I said about Stephen Miller in that tweet. It feels like that's the right path. You know, it lost me my job, so there's ways it's not the right path. But yeah, I guess it feels like, in fact, I would say yes, I feel calmer in placing my trust in God.”

This is all coming from the man who is most famous for saying, “I like to say that, in some ways, Barack Obama is the first president since George Washington to be taking a step down into the Oval Office.”

Other great Moranisms include reacting to the demise of Roe v. Wade: “It changes the status of American women as citizens of the United States and as citizens of their states. That’s the big picture. But let’s not mince words, women will die because of this ruling.”

Were those divine-inspired reports or Moran just being a liberal activist?

Here is a transcript for the August 28 show:

TERRY MORAN: What we're seeing is no question what other countries have seen a lot, what our Founding Fathers predicted would happen, that a great strong man would, would, all right, not great in the good sense, but great in the power sense, right? Trump is the most dominant figure of our age around the world. Don't underestimate him. He is a world historical figure, and he is the man that we were warned about by the Founders, that democracies fall when a man who can captivate the populace wants to exercise the power that's there in the government, and that is what we're watching.

PHILIP DEFRANCO: And I know you mentioned your faith. I mean, with you, kind of, talking about your job in that way. Do you, do you feel like it's a calling, it's a, it's a God-given purpose?

TERRY MORAN: And that would be a beautiful thing. But yeah, I guess it feels like, in fact, I would say yes, I feel calmer in placing my trust in God.

DEFRANCO: Terry, thank you so much for the time, sir.
