Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s January announcement of changes in how the province will be dealing with transgender health care for youth was met with accusations that her policies were anti-science and based on discriminatory attitudes. But the recently released Cass Review, a landmark review of the available evidence produced for England’s National Health Service, appears to support the need for guardrails to ensure children don’t undergo life-altering medical interventions they may come to regret later in life.
